*  Troy Applin (c/o '11) has settled in nicely in the Norfolk State
bullpen, pitching some key, late-game innings for the Spartans.

Alabama.  He will be asked to play 1B & is now pitching this year

University, and is working at multiple positions, including 2B,

ALUMNI UPDATE
    With the 20-game regular season coming to a close, the team's
leaders are as follows: Thomas Packert led the team in batting
(.328), hits (19), total bases (32), OBP (.418), SLG (.552), OPS (.970),
while tying Mitchell Grawey for the lead in runs (10), and Conner
Smith for the lead in doubles (5), triples (1), and HR (2).  Smith
finished with the tead-lead in RBI with 17, while Remy Johnston
led in walks (12) and Jae Damewood finished with team-high 9 SB.
    On the mound, Packert led in Wins (5), ERA (1.81), CG (5),
Shutouts (2), IP (50.3), Ks (53), & WHIP (1.37), while Tadd Ennis
finished with the team-lead in Appearances (14) and Saves (1).

       The Oscar Smith Tigers have clinched a berth in the
Southeastern District Tournament for the first time in school
history!  The teram will enter the playoffs as the 6th-seed and on
Friday, the 17th, the Tigers will take on the #3 Grassfield
Grizzlies at Nansemond River High School at 5:30pm.  Directly
afterward, the #4 Western Branch Bruins will face the #5
Nansemond River Warriors.  Tickets are $7 for an all-day pass.
